Huge hugs & appreciation to Kelli Allen & the team @ "Book of Matches" & all my fellow #poets included in the issue for their incredible talents & support of the #poetrycommunity at large
I'll share again that this poem comes from a very personal place of sadness & anger around everything the current administration under Trump & #iceagents are doing to our country & the city of #losangeles
The central image I came away w/ in the poem speaks to my committed, unending hope for better days & the promise & faith I have in the good people around me.
I also have to thank Trenches Full of Poets for their support when I read a longer version of this poem @ an open mic a while back at Page Against the Machine, after which I made some very useful edits that caught the success of publication.
Ego cannot enter the process of making art, I'm always proud to be a student, & keep myself in a place of seeking to improve on my approaches to the crafts that give me joy, fulfilment, & community.
#stayinformed #chooselove & #makeart whenever possible, everybody
