San Gorgonio w/ Mayra and Anel, May 30, 2021

My second time running San Gorgonio was an amazing and fitting end to my month of hitting the highest peaks I could fit in for May. The peak sits at the top of the podium for southern California elevation, and like the first time I came here the trail put me on the ground twice, which means I did it right in my eyes, and an extra gift this time since I got the second fall on camera.
Mayra and Anel were perfect partners in crime for the adventure, and I found an abundance of opportunities to hone my vert gain and techy skills up and down a trail offering all kinds of profiles, terrain, and views. It was also a nice surprise to meet Neha for the first time in real life in the last stretch to the top, which was extra awesome since conversation seems to help me measure my breathing more, especially when there isn’t much air to breathe.
Meeting swarms of ladybugs in the last couple miles was a fun twist on the day as well, and I wouldn’t be me if I wasn’t already excited to come back here again soon.
When your trail hype and circadian rhythm beat your alarm by 3 minutes.
Summit vibes!
Exhausted smiles after a successful completion, thanks again, Mayra and Anel!
A Speedgoat trifecta is always a great look.
A little blood and being able to walk after getting thrown a bit is A-ok by me.
This pair of EVO Speedgoats came with me to my first ultramarathon at Speedgoat 50k in 2019, they served me exceptionally well there and continue to be a pleasure on the trails now.
These little cuties were everywhere.
Loved this lunch spot, the wind in the trees was the quintessential soundtrack to decompress to as well.
My Garmin results diverged quite a bit from my Strava, the former is more accurate than the latter, and I’m looking forward to improving on this performance next time.
