Kentucky Lucky Chicken w/ Jared & Dave, May 2, 2022

Every part of Utah I’ve visited so far has been a wellspring of remarkable experiences and beauty. My first time in St. George with HOKA for the 2022 IRONMAN World Championship followed the same pattern wonderfully.

The Kentucky Lucky Chicken Trail was perfectly situated less than a mile behind the hotel my team and I stayed at in town.

Everyone at St. George was very welcoming, and one of our volunteers and new friend Rich included KLC as one of seven trail options to hit in the area.

I’d been trying to take it easy with both mileage and effort since my Born to Run attempt, and taking on a fun 6 miles on trail with Jared was a great way to do this. Breaking in brand new Mach Supersonics for the adventure only added to the fun factor, performing well and feeling plenty springy in fairly non-technical terrain. All the photos are Jared’s, high-5s and many thanks again, bud!

My knee was not at 100% and started complaining a bit towards the end of this run, but the views, terrain, and company, which looped in our friend and fellow teammate Dave as a welcome surprise for the last couple miles. All of this combined made for a perfect return to the trails after an extended break and one road run.

Stay safe and happy trails, everybody!
