Besides race photos I’ve never had a professional photographer ride with me on a run, Evan Barnes is a master (check his very recent work at Western States and with Jim Walmsley for some exceptional examples), and it was great having him along while the Camp Chaski Flagstaff squad went to work on speed day at Buffalo Park.

The workout involved lots of hill repeats up and down two hills and fartleks at 1-minute on/off x 8. More of the same was an option for the maniacs who couldn’t get enough.

Naturally I loved every second of the workout, special thanks to Ty, Izzy, and Bret for insisting that I not hold anything back, and to the whole team for making the pain train a place I could smile in.
